CONSTANT SMILES was formed in 2009 by Ben Jones. He was joined by different collaborators in versions of the band that manifested as noisy soundscapes, scenic chamber pop, or icy coldwave-adjacent synth-pop, often released on opaquely-designed, ultra-limited albums named after favorite film directors. A move to New York and a few records on Sacred Bones resulted in more people becoming aware of the band, but Jones and friends remained in constant flux. The great unlocking of the Constant Smiles puzzlebox happened when the band solidified into a permanent core lineup when drummer/vocalist Nora Knight joined Jones and longtime bassist Spike Currier in the end of 2022. After years of being defined by visceral change and inconsistency, this stabilized personnel shifted the sound, emotional coloration, and impact of the band. With Knight and Currier providing counterpoint and structure to Jones’ always percolating creative drive, the songs became more streamlined and direct. Still airy and dream-like, the trio version of Constant Smiles that produced Moonflowers has cleared away the clouds of vaguity and uncertainty that could make earlier versions of the band feel harder to connect with. Like the best moments of foundational albums by Talk Talk or Nick Drake, the lived-in majesty of Adrianne Lenker’s Songs/Instrumentals or Jim O’Rourke’s excursions into chamber pop, Moonflowers reaches its dynamic swells naturally, almost subliminally. It’s a sound that past Constant Smiles releases hinted at but never fully achieved.

Much like the night-blooming flora the album takes its name from, Constant Smiles’ Felte debut Moonflowers is the product of slow, largely unseen patterns of growth. The New York-based band forged a path all their own on the way here, gradually growing from an amorphous collection of highly conceptual ideas into something easier to grasp, with every step of their unlikely route leading to Moonflowers, a subtle masterpiece of internally-born ambient pop.

Moonflowers is the clearest possible view of something that took years to form, yet feels naturally like an introduction. The music is cared for but not belabored, and this fits perfectly with songs about the feelings that happen before you have time to think. In this fully arrived form, Constant Smiles taps into something instinctive, an atmosphere of stillness with microscopic parts that never stop moving, and songs that are nearly transparent but still somehow heavier than a mountain.

Jeden Dienstagabend gestalten die 5 Mitglieder von LSD und eingeladene Gäste im Berliner Schokoladen ein Programm aus neuen Texten und Songs. Gegründet 1996 besteht LSD heute aus den Mitgliedern Andreas „Spider“ Krenzke, Tobias „Tube“ Herre, Uli Hannemann, Eva Mirasol und Ivo Lotion. Alle 5 genannten Künstler sind als Autoren und Musiker auch in anderen Bereichen aktiv.

LSD bietet jeden 1. & 3. Dienstag ein Offenes Mikro für Menschen an, die spontan etwas vortragen wollen. Beachtet bitte, dass der Beitrag selbstverfasst sein muss und nicht länger als 6 Minuten dauert. Wer am Offenen Mikro liest, braucht keinen Eintritt zahlen und bekommt ein Freigetränk.

Auf irgendeinen Stil oder ein Ziel lassen sich die Eklektiker von EAT THEM nur höchst ungerne festnageln. Möglich ist das angesichts des Oeuvres der Band aus Bochum ohnehin kaum. In ihrer Diskografie gibt es so gut wie alles, was sich mit einem wie auch immer gearteten Bandsetup bewerkstelligen lässt: Indie und Punk, Noise und Lo-Fi-Pop, Shoegaze und Krautrock, Mathcore und Punk, Experimentelles und Eingängiges. Die Liste ließe sich absurd lang weiterführen – und das ist auch durchaus gewollt. Vorhersehbar sind Alben wie „Powerbank Reality“ (2018) oder „Gelbe Spinnerei“ (2021) jedenfalls nie, was Fans der Band zu tatsächlichen Fanatikern macht, die alles aus deren Angebot dankend verschlingen. Eat Them haben die Reaktion auf ihre Musik also irgendwie im Namen, vertilgen aber auch alles an Einflüssen derer sie geistig habhaft werden können. Das neue Album „LATE“ (2024) lässt diesbezüglich ganz bewusst viele Fragen offen, damit die Antworten Teil des Hörprozesses werden. Zweifellos eine der spannendsten deutschen Bands der Gegenwart.

Muudu (Martin Kuut) is an Estonian-born, Berlin-based producer, live act, and DJ whose sound bridges house, ambient, indie electronica, breakbeat, and Nordic prog-rock textures. Known for weaving odd time signatures into grooves that feel natural and hypnotic, his music balances contrast with cohesion and atmosphere with rhythm.

After relocating to Berlin, Muudu refined his craft at Abbey Road Institute and established himself at Riverside Studios, working alongside artists and composers including Ivan Dorn, MLiR, Freestyle Man, Alisson Kruusmaa and Erki Pärnoja. Since 2022, he has been releasing with Moodmusic Records and remains part of the BlackheadStudios family led by the house music mastermind, DJ, producer, and genius mastering engineer Klas
"Sasse" Lindblad.

1981 veröffentlichten A+P ihr Debüt-Album. Der Antifa-Song „Dachau“ machte die Band zu einem bekannten Deutsch-Punk-Act. Konzerte fanden überwiegend im süddeutschen Raum und in der Schweiz statt. In der ehemaligen DDR wurden die Songs zunächst ausschließlich per MC verbreitet. Doch heute hat A+P besonders viele treue Fans in Ostdeutschland.

Das Markenzeichen von A+P ist kraftvoller, unverschnörkelter Punkrock und gesellschaftskritische Texte. Dies sind zwar vor mehreren Jahrzehnten entstanden, haben aber bis heute erschreckende Aktualität.

Ein Highlight der letzten Jahre war 2022 der Auftritt beim "Back to future" Festival in Glaubitz. Der Gig ist als erstes A+P Live Album bei www.madbutcher.de erhältlich.

Nach Auftritt beim „Resist to Exist“ Festival in Marzahn 2023 ist die Band aus Bayern nun endlich wieder in Berlin zu Gast. Und die Musiker freuen sich riesig darauf, am 21.3.2026 erstmals im legendären Schokoladen aufzutreten.

Pyro One ist eine Nervensäge. Direkt, oft sperrig und emotional. Er beobachtet exzellent und gibt den kleinen Nuancen des Zwischenmenschlichen einen Raum. Gleichzeitig wechselt er häufig auf die emotionale Ebene und gibt der Tristesse eine Stimme. Politisch, komplex und weit weg von eingängig, schert er sich nicht um die musikalische Verwertbarkeit seiner Songs. Im Zweifel bleibt er dagegen. Es ist kompliziert. Pyro One hat seinen roten Faden. Anstelle von Parolen und kurzweiliger Effekthascherei treffen kritische Lyrics auf Beats, die irgendwo angesiedelt sind zwischen klassischem Boom Bap und Cloud-Rap.

 Seit 2001 steht die Rapperin Ket auf der Bühne, anfangs nur in Leipzig, spätestens seit dem Release ihres Albums „Traverser la rue“ im Jahr 2012 ist sie in ganz Deutschland unterwegs. Ihre Musik beschreibt sie selbst als persönlich, Therapie für sie und alle, denen es ähnlich geht, mit durchkonstruierten Reimen und einem Schuss Boom Bap.
